[2017-08-10] Calculating the range and abundance for marine species over time is a big challenge. These protocols are now published and can be used to measure the achievement of environmental goals like the Aichi targets set by the Convention for Biological Diversity (CBD) or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) identified by the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
